What to Expect

Most importantly, we hope you will feel at home.  One of our young adults said, "When my family came through the door at Yates for the first time, I felt like I had been a member there for years.  I felt welcomed and accepted without being known.  What a powerful feeling!"

What should I wear?  Some of our members enjoy wearing their “Sunday best” to worship while others prefer more casual attire.  We just want you to come and be comfortable.

Where do I park?  We have two parking lots on our campus and additional space at Rogers Herr Middle School.  Parking for our guests is available in the larger lot near the sanctuary and Welcome Center. Click here for a parking map.

Do you have facilities for people with disabilities?  Yes, we welcome everyone to our church.  If you have a disability, it would be easiest for you to enter through the Welcome Center.  There you will find an elevator to the education building classrooms and an accessible hallway to the sanctuary.  If you are a senior adult, it would be easier to enter through the door closest to the office to attend a Bible Study class.  Click here for a campus map.

What is your worship service like?  Our worship service includes private and community prayers, the reading and proclamation of God’s written word, music, personal testimonies, and opportunities to respond to the movement of God’s Holy Spirit.  Musical expressions of worship include a blend of both contemporary and traditional styles utilizing the creative arts and multi-media.  Nearly every week, you will hear a choir, worship leader & team, a worship band and/or piano.

Will I be singled out as a guest?
You are not asked to stand or speak during the services, but we would appreciate it if you would sign a friendship pad.  We like to follow up with all our guests.

Will I be expected to give money? The offering plate is passed during the service, but we do not expect our guests to make a contribution.

How long will the service last?  Our worship service is about an hour. After the service many people linger in the sanctuary to catch up with one another and to meet our guests.  We hope you will hang around and let us get to know you.
